Around the world crumpets are known to be very much a British Institution. It seems that, throughout history, toasted crumpets have been served in the drawing room with afternoon tea in front of a roaring log fire.

On my trawl through the archives I came across this vegetarian recipe which should appeal to vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The main ingredient, vegetable suet, may not be readily available in the US but, at the bottom of the recipe I have found a couple of websites where you can order British food online, so if you don’t like the recipe, you may find some other things on there to tickle your taste buds!
