On my trawl through the archives I came across this vegetarian recipe which should appeal to vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The main ingredient, vegetable suet, may not be readily available in the US but, at the bottom of the recipe I have found a couple of websites where you can order British food online, so if you don’t like the recipe, you may find some other things on there to tickle your taste buds!

Hot and Boozy Tiger Prawns
I’ve discovered this very unusual starter or light meal (ideal for Christmas Day “tea” if you’ve had a good blow out on Turkey with trimmings, Christmas pud and mince pies at lunch time!)
This serves 4 if you use it as a starter but would be enough for 2 for a main meal. It should be served with a salad and some crusty bread.

My Writing Year
I can't believe what I've achieved from writing over the last 12 months. Not only have I had success in writing recipes and other history/crime articles, I've even managed to publish my first children's Christmas adventure/fairy story for the Kindle - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006GEQL9I If I can do it, anyone can!

Chocolate, Orange and Olive Truffles
No, this isn’t a mistake! I came across this recipe which combines chocolate with olives while I was looking for something a bit different. The recipe states that there’s enough here for 6 servings but it depends on how large or how small you want to make them. What’s more, there’s no real cooking involved – just a few hours of setting in the fridge

Apple and Almond Tart
Having just picked apples from our very small orchard, it’s hard sometimes to find new and more unusual uses for the windfalls other than chutneys and apple pies – both with eaters and cookers – so I was impressed when I found this delicious recipe online.
It makes enough for a 6 person dinner party and would be wonderful with cream or ice cream.
