This is one of TV Chef, Gary Rhodes recipes. They’re usually cooked with beef and baked in a Malaysian pastry parcel but he’s adapted them to suit vegetarians and to utilise more readily available puff pastry. They’re designed as a starter but I think they would be perfect for an alfresco dinner party with salad.

This is a nice, easy and cheap addition to your Christmas finger buffet party table!

The dish is said to be enough to provide 26 balls but obviously it’s a bit hit and miss as it depends on how big your balls are!!

If you don’t like walnuts or Stilton you could of course experiment with other nuts and/or crumbly cheese. This is an unusual buffet dish which is ideal for your vegetarian friends – makes a change from bog standard veggie fare!!

I’m still searching for unusual Christmas party snacks and this one really appealed. There’s nothing like a good hot chilli based dish to warm up your guests when they arrive and, being a great lover of prawns and lime this was just perfect for me
