An illegal immigrant moves up to America to try to start a new life with his wife. Unfortunately, she inevitably leaves him alone to raise their son. Years later, he struggles day to day to provide his son all the opportunities that he never had growing up; while protecting him from gangs and immigration agents. This movie may not be for the faint of heart, but it's definitely one of the best dramas out there.

A little more than a week ago I just finished reading Oxygen by Carol Cassella and checked online to see if she had written anything else. She had. So, I got her second novel, Healer, at the library. It was just as good. This author (a medical doctor) writes about, yep, medicine, but also society and the big picture. In this book, the big picture covered immigration,
