I can remember as a child being given locally produced honey mixed with lemon juice and hot water when I had a cold and it always seemed to work a treat. in later years, I learned that it was also excellent for the skin (I used honey based cleansers and moisturisers from my local animal friendly beauty shop!) and I had heard that it had good antiseptic qualities too, but with it being quite an expensive commodity here in the UK I was fascinated by an article I read about good old “cheapo” sugar!

So, we’ve had face lifts, nose jobs, ear pinning, liposuction, tummy tucks and breast implants and now … the latest fad is for chin implants. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) have confirmed that in 2011 20,680 chin implant operations were carried out. A 71% rise on 2010 and I suspect this will increase until the next wonderful enhancement comes along.

Annie Besant was considered more than a little eccentric in her day but much of what she achieved in her lifetime, we now take for granted today.
Annie Woods was born in London in October 1847. She wasn’t what one would call a happy child. Her father died when she was just five and Annie’s mother in effect abandoned her and persuaded a friend (Ellen Marryat), the sister of British Naval Officer and relatively prolific writer Frederick Marryat, to take charge of the young child.
