When I was at secretarial college back in the mid 1970s the majority of us young ladies were taught to type on manual typewriters and took our turn in getting to grips with the five complicated to operate, cranky electric ones. And woe betide anyone who sought the assistance of the “magic” invisibility cloak of Tippex!
