Since Google introduced its Android operating system in 2007, the company’s strategy has been simple: Give it to developers for free and make money when consumers click ads on the Web or through apps. That model is hitting a snag.

Amazon.com and Chinese Internet giants Baidu and Tencent Holdings are using Android as a building block for their devices, skipping preloaded applications such as Gmail, Google Maps and YouTube that generate ad revenue for Google, as well as its app store. Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet, which is gaining ground on Apple’s iPad, comes with none of those apps.

Megaupload user data could be gone Thursday

U.S. prosecutors blocked access to Megaupload and charged seven men, saying the site facilitated millions of illegal downloads of movies, music and other content.

The company says its millions of users stored their own data, including family photos and personal documents. They haven't been able to see their data since the government raids earlier this month, but there has been hope would be able to get it back.

An article on the BBC website has brought a whole new meaning to the words “fire” wood. An inhabitant of the Russian village of Udmurtia bought some crates with the aim of using them for firewood but discovered that, with this innocent purchase he had also gained his own armoury! Some of the crates contained Kalashnikov rifles and parts!!
