I received an email from Hillside this morning relating to a slaughterhouse in Nantwich, Cheshire. I set out below the contents of the email and would urge you to add your name to the petition. I did so as soon as I read it. I’ve posted it on Twitter and would be grateful if those who sign it would kindly forward it to anyone who may be interested.

I’ve just received a rather distressing email from my local animal sanctuary. Apparently next year the EU are relaxing laws for the importation of dogs into the UK from Romania without undergoing lengthy periods of quarantine.

It appears that Romania have been under the ever watchful eye of Hillside for some considerable time and have seen first hand the sort of abuse these dogs have to endure but, up until now, other than a touch of human kindness and some limited veterinary care they’ve been powerless to get them back to the UK
