Based on a true story. Clint Eastwood pays homage to one of the United States' most infamous U.S. military soldiers that ever lived in Chris Kyle. Although his life was often shrouded in controversy, one thing that was indisputable was that he was the deadliest sniper to ever serve in the Navy SEALS, and he's one of the most decorated as well. This film may not be perfect, but Clint does play on everyone's patriotic sentiments in this one.

Once again, despite my love of British history, the only thing that I seem to remember from my school days about King Alfred is that he was holed up somewhere in some sort of boggy terrain following a lengthy battle and, due to exhaustion had fallen asleep by a fire and managed to burn some cakes!

During the Second World War thanks to the talents of our code breakers at Bletchley Park here in the UK and to the oft times forgotten heroes of the Resistance throughout Europe, particularly in France, a good number of lives were spared and, most probably, the long and arduous six year war was considerably shorter than would otherwise have been the case.
