It all began for the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals during the 1974-75 season. The Capitals joined the league along with the Kansas City Scouts. The Scouts didn’t last long in Kansas City before moving to Denver where they were known as the Colorado Rockies. Soon after that, the Rockies moved to New Jersey where they are still known as the Devils. Washington remains in their original location and have been one of the NHL’s top teams for the past half decade.

The Washington Capitals - Will This Be The Year?
Since their first year in the National Hockey League, 1974-75, the Washington Capitals have enjoyed several years of success during the regular season but have only made it to the Stanley Cup finals on one occasion. The 1998 version of the Capitals lost in the finals to the Detroit Red Wings.
Last season, 2009-10, the Capitals had the best overall record during the regular season, earning them the President’s Trophy. The team’s 54 wins was the best in their history. Unfortunately, Washington lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to the surprising Montreal Canadiens

Should we Allow the Government to be Shut Down?
Compromise is the favorite word in Washington these days. Reporters and Democrats in office say that compromise is needed in order to keep the government running before it shuts down this Friday. Plenty of doomsday scenarios will be thrown about, especially the idea that a shut down will stifle the recovery. But in the words of Obama, let us be clear, a shut down is the least of our worries.
