An Anglo-Saxon grave discovered at Trumpington Meadows close to Cambridge, has unearthed signs of a cross-over between Paganism and Christianity. The discovery is extremely rare and could be one of the earliest cross-over burials in the UK. The skeleton was discovered by the Cambridge Archaeological Unit, led by Alison Dickens.

It is thought that Halloween has its roots in Celtic Paganism, although the church claims that the ancient Pagan rituals have no basis in All Hallows Eve, the night before All Hallows Day, also known as All Saints Day, or officially in the Roman Catholic Church known as Solemnity of All Saints. The tradition “holiday” if you will that Celts celebrated was called Samhain, which roughly translates to “the end of summer”. For the Celts and other ancient Pagan religions, Halloween was a time festive joy celebrating the harvest at the end of the summer season.
