The German courts have just dismissed the appeal by Magdeburg zoo director and two of his senior employees. They were previously convicted for putting a couple of surplus tiger cubs to sleep. If this had been domestic kittens or puppies then nobody would have given it a second thought but it was tigers. Sadly the press and the majority of people fail to understand or even attempt to understand what is involved in conservation breeding. Here German law fails to understand either.
