“PayPal, the online payment king, didn’t exactly laugh and cheer when Google announced its new “mobile wallet” for Android phones yesterday. Instead PayPal filed a lawsuit against Google and two former PayPal executives now in charge of mobile payments at the search giant. The complaint alleges “misappropriation of trade secrets, and “breach of fiduciary duty.”

Nigerian company law is a part of Nigerian heritage from the British legal system that was imposed since colonial days. Prior to 1912, there was no local statute or legislation on company law in force in any part of Nigeria. Furthermore, the only companies operating in Nigeria were foreign companies and they were governed by the laws of their different countries. In 1912, the first local legislation governing the activities of companies was promulgated as the Companies ordinance, 1912.
