The most famous kaiju eiga(Japanese Monster Movie) monster is Godzilla. The second most famous is Gamera, the flying turtle. But what people don't know is that there are many other entertaining monster movies from Japan without either of these stars. This is a top 10 list of these fun, lesser known films. Don't be surprised to see some familiar faces as two of Godzilla's more famous monster co-stars got their start with their own movies. Check them out.

Legendary Pictures has just signed British Director Gareth Edwards to direct their Godzilla 2012 project. Edwards is the independant director behind the inteligent sci-fi film 'Monsters' released in 2010 about the aftermath of an alien invasion. The movie was made on a tiny budget with a crew of five and cast of two. It won film awards in England and got the attention of big studios in Hollywood. Now Edwards will helm 'Godzilla' which legendary Pictures has said will be done in the spirit of the original Japanese character. Read more...
