Make Beginning Preparations:
Remove the strings completely from the guitar. Make a heavy cardboard template that will cover the upper 1/2 of the guitar top completely to protect it from the heat of the iron. Tape it securely into place so it will not slide accidentally. Meanwhile, plug in your flatiron and let it heat up on its highest setting.
Remove the Guitar Nut by taking a small block of wood and placing it on the fingerboard and resting against the Nut. Give the wood a sharp rap with a plastic tipped hammer and the nut should pop right off.
