One of the hardest concepts to appreciate and understand is the soul of man. And to further exasperate the problem, religions have decided to confound the matter even more by ignoring what is clearly defined in Genesis, that the soul was a particular gift from God to man, and to no other species on this planet. For it is clearly written that even after God had created all the other animals he did something different with man at the time of our inception.

When you are spending time ignoring the unpleasant parts of your life instead of dealing with them you are setting yourself up for unhappiness. Sometimes the reality is that your life isn’t going to improve or change unless you make the efforts.

My amazing dad passed away yesterday.

He fought this disease with tenacity and humor.

And he surrendered to it just as beautifully.

I was lucky enough to hold his hand as he left this world. What an amazing blessing the Universe gave me in allowing me to do this and in allowing me to fulfill the promise I had made to my dad many months ago, that I would be with him in those final moments.

It was peaceful.
And meaningful.
And the experience will stay with me forever.

Yesterday was surreal.
A mix of disbelief and relief.
Today it feels real and not at all surreal.
