I wrote this in light of Elizabeth Edwards's terminal illness (breast cancer) and decided to make it useful for readers. Why? Most of us went through the same situation as her children did as kids ourselves. In fact, I lost my grandfather and father to terminal cancer respectively at ages 12 and 13. Because the news relates so much to my life as well as others who went through the same, I decided to pass on pieces of advice to parents to help children cope with a dying and dead loved one who battled cancer.
