One day my cats Brandy and Bindy began behaving oddly. They would walk across the room then stop dead in their tracks as though they’d hit an invisible wall. The cats would walk around this unseen obstacle and keep on walking. This happened time and time again and I was perplexed by their behaviour.

“There’s Dad’s favourite song again ... they’ve been playing it heaps lately,” I said to my husband Peter, as ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ played on the radio. My father Charles and I had been estranged for many years after I’d moved to Queensland against his advice and wishes. I’d often wondered over the years if we’d reconcile one day, but hadn’t made moves to extend the olive branch myself.

The last few months, I’ve reviewed some of legendary horror director Lucio Fulci’s last movies; movies I had heard of but never seen. But now I’ve watched a movie I’ve never even heard of. I had no idea that Fulci supervised (or something like that) a handful of direct-to-video movies (I believe there are five of them) in 1989; the “Lucio Fulci presenta” movies. Fulci “presents” the movies, his name is mentioned in the titles, but I’ve no idea what he had to do with them more than lending them his name.
