In Sweden, Easter is called “påsk”. That’s pronounced “posk” and not “pask”. The holiday begins with what Anglo-Americans call Maundy Thursday, which in Sweden is called “skärtorsdag”. Skärtorsdag actually translates as Cutting Thursday.

Many people do not realize that Easter is older than Christianity itself. This holiday existed for years prior to Christ. Eggs, chicks, and bunnies, have long been symbols of this spring holiday and have nothing to do with Christ.
