I really enjoyed going on drives with dad in our new car. When it was just the two of us I got to sit in the front and watch him drive. I had to know about the gear shift and he told me in earlier cars you had to shift it, but I didn't know what that meant. There was even a radio that played music, I bet Peggy liked that. All the side windows rolled down, Jim and Jack liked that. I didn't care when the whole family rode because I always got the hump. You know, the middle of the backseat with the hump in the floor.

There was just one acre of land. Not really enough to support cattle, but it was large enough to support a couple hogs and some chickens plus a family of six in a four-room house. Yea, it was almost a mile outside of town, but the city limits were sure to move and incorporate the home and property in a couple of years. “We better take it,” my folks said and they committed themselves to a new home for themselves and their four children.

Many times dads only get gifts on special occasions such as Father’s Day, birthdays or Valentine’s Day and are neglected the remaining 362 days of the year. It doesn’t have to be that way though with gift baskets for dad. You can buy dad a gift basket and give it to him any time you deem he may need a little pick-me-up or some encouragement.
