It was not, as the Americans had first thought, a Soviet satellite. In fact, they too had detected the satellite, and they too were also in a blind panic. Like their American counterparts, they were still years away from performing such feats. It was however, undeniably, there.

Historically the roads around Battambang have been full of potholes. Many travelers have forgone traveling this way due to the extensive damage done to the roads from the heavy rains that occur however, recently the roads have been paved over and what used to be a 5 hour grueling trip can now be easily undertaken in about two hours.

With NASA's space shuttle Discovery now headed home from the International Space Station, skywatchers across much of the United States and southern Canada are in for a real two-day treat: the last chance to see Discovery in space with their own eyes.

Discovery left the space station today (March 7) and is due to land in Florida on Wednesday. This means that — weather permitting — there are opportunities to see both Discovery and the space station flying across the sky from many locations.
