Can the good Sir Dominic save the day? Will he win his battles against the foe and return the fair Princes Grace safely to her father across barren lands and stormy seas? My first attempt at a children's poem

If only it were that simple! Just writing a story in which the ends of the lines rhyme is not enough. Verse and poetry need an innate sense of rhythm – I’m not even sure if it can be taught – plus tremendous self-discipline.

As children we rely upon our parents, family and guardians to nurture, comfort, educate, direct and advise. We accept our punishment if we deviate for we know they mean well and their guidance is imperative to our structure. Most of us are reprimanded firmly but justly in a fair manner for our misdemeanours by our elders. We are groomed and schooled to reach our peak of (at least) a basic education and eventually a desirable social position will hopefully surface.
