Establishing an effective progressive discipline policy makes good business sense for any organization. It is imperative to thoroughly train supervisors and managers so that dicipline can be meted out fairly and appropriately.

"I read an article on CNN.com Thursday afternoon and have not been able to get it off of my mind. Earlier this month, a twelve year old girl from Forest Hills, New York was arrested (and later released without penalty) for doodling on her desk. The article also mentions the arrests and ticketing of other students across the country for “crimes” such as engaging in food fights, talking back to teachers and being repeatedly late for or absent from school.
