HSLDA has previously detailed our work to ensure that homeschool graduates are able to serve their nation by enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces. After numerous homeschool graduates were refused recruitment simply because their diploma was granted to them by their parents and not by a traditional brick-and-mortar school, HSLDA worked with the Pentagon to draft a temporary policy to ensure that homeschool graduates were not discriminated against because of the source of their high school diplomas.

As I began my studies in the Counseling field, I became more and more aware of how many therapists are unaware of the diversity that the homeschooling population includes. I also heard many anecdotal stories of homeschoolers who felt they could not go to therapy because they were afraid that the therapist would not understand their lifestyle.

Having spirited children cooperate with a parent is one thing, but having them cooperate with a medical professional is a totally different matter. Here are some articles about visiting the doctor, dentist or going for shots.
