I just don't understand why so few people seem to care about their effect on the environment. If we continue to destroy our planet's ability to support life, we won't be able to live either. The current state of the the planet's oceans indicate an impending mass extinction, and, of course, it is all our fault. Global warming and pollution are destroying our oceans and pushing them to the brink of a mass extinction of marine life, the likes of which haven't been seen for tens of millions of years.

Like most people, one of the things I hate most about summer is the mosquitos. I also hate using mosquito repellant spray. Not only is the DEET found in most mosquito sprays harmful to the environment, the spay feels sticky and gross and makes being outside less enjoyable. Luckily, there are some natural, more environmentally friendly ways to keep bugs off.

We all love products that are marketed as being "green." They make us feel less guilty about buying and wasting so many resources. We especially love disposable items that are biodegradable, because we still get the modern convenience provided by traditional disposable products, while also feeling as though we are living an eco-friendly and environmentally responsible lifestyle. Well, these biodegradable items may not be as "green" as the companies that market them want you to believe.
