Last weekend my boyfriend and I attended his 30 year high school reunion. While most of his former classmates were happy to see him and extended genuine kindness to me, a few of the female attendees exhibited nothing but bitterness and open hostility. We’re used to second glances and unwanted attention due to our nearly 20 year age difference however, most people are able to remain courteous. In contrast, some of the women attending this reunion actually referred to me as the “Trophy wife” out-loud.

Recently a family court judge in Bucks County, PA ordered a man to take down a blog called ThePsychoExWife.com. The man, a father of two sons, is challenging the ruling on the grounds that it violates his 1st and 14th Amendment rights. I was intrigued when I first saw this story because I experienced similar problems with my boyfriend’s ex, although not even close to what this man went through, but I digress.

A poem about the slow, cold death of a marriage when one spouse no longer loves the other. A particularly bittersweet portrayal of its effect on the remaining and loving spouse living alone under the same roof.
