Gone are the days when marriage was considered as a sacred covenant and happy union between two persons and treating divorce as painful separation between married couple. No doubt marriage has lost its pre-eminence and ‘people today look at marriage as an extension of dating.’(Allen Parkman, University of New Mexico and the author of No Fault Divorce).Hence, relegating marriage to an empty formality, divorce has gained an upper hand and undue importance in the US society.

A Silent Prayer

The divorce rate in America for the first marriage is 41%, the divorce rate for the second marriage is even higher, 60%, and the divorce rate for the third marriage is higher yet, at a whopping 73%!

You may not be a religious person, but have uttered these words as a prayer..."God can you save my marriage?" You are not alone in this as many couples who have vowed to love and cherish each other forever are not separated or on the verge of divorce or divorced.

What used to be a rare occurrence is becoming much more commonplace. Moms are giving up, and many times losing, custody of their kids to the fathers. Is this a bad thing? The battle-scarred victims always end up being the kids, usually as soon as the divorce process is started, but what happens when a mom just doesn't want her kids anymore, and why is it becoming so prevalent?
