Bob Geldof, who made his name as singer for the Boomtown Rats, awarded a score of 10 points for Bard of Ely's song Mañana which was in the semi finals of the YouBloom Music Awards. The other judges included Sarah Lewitinn and Conor McNicholas (former editor of the NME) and the semi finals of the Internet song contest took place last summer. Bob Geldof also suggested that the Bard of Ely should rock the song up in John Otway style.

The Bard of Ely recently had his song Manana qualify as an entry in the semi finals of the YouBloom Song Contest but sadly it never got into the finals that were judged by Bob Geldof of Boomtown Rats fame. However, never one to give up, Bard of Ely, has entered another of his songs into the competition which has been renamed and is now called the YouBloom Music Awards. Always Look So Fine is in the Brit Pop or Pop/Rock genre of music and was recorded with the band Flowers of the City who were named after a line from a Bob Dylan song To Ramona.

Bard of Ely's popular song Kingfisher is his current entry in the YouBloom song contest, which is being judged by Bob Geldof. Bard of Ely has already won second place in the last heat with his song Mañana. Now he is hoping to get another of his songs as a competition winner.
