Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay is a great fantasy novel. It's the fantasy novel for people who don't read fantasy, In the story, a fictitious land is invaded by two foreign conqueror/sorcerors. When one of the conqueror's sons is killed in the proince of Tigana, he descends and destroys it, but not content, tries to erase its very name with a very special spell. This is the backdrop that sets the story in motion. There is magic in the story, but it's one in a realistic way. Kay's Tigana feels like a real place. A great read.

Randal Spangler is a fantasy artist from my hometown of Kansas City. He paints wonderful fantasy art featuring these cute little dragons. His paintings are whimsical and fanciful, great for kids.
