Each day, you inhale almost 11,000 times. Through this process, you introduce about 2,400 gallons of air into your lungs. In your lungs, oxygen is extracted from the air you breathe and pumped into the blood cells circulating in and around the lungs. Through this process, nearly 9,000 liters of blood is oxygenated every day.
