Homosexuality as a lifestyle is something that is scorned at in Africa and those who choose to live such a lifestyle do so at their own peril. For most Africans homosexuality is something foreign and taboo and in fact it is illegal in at least 37 countries Africa.

In Uganda lawmakers are considering a bill that would sentence homosexuals to life in prison and include capital punishment for “repeat offenders.” In contrast South Africa in 2006 was the sixth country in the world and the first in Africa to legalize gay marriage.

When I was growing up it wasn't until my teens that someone actually told me what homosexuality meant. I remember having feelings for those of my same sex, and also remembered that the overall reaction to this type of thing in the late 1960's and early 1970's was not a positive one (the word queer clearly was not a term of endearment). A friend of mine, Sherry, who was a little older than me, had it all figured out and was willing to share what she knew. Sherry was like a big sister and very protective of me, never once violating that sacred position of mentor.

In my previous article about how to cure homosexuality in men, I explained that the aversion for women in men is a consequence of tragic experiences with significant women during their childhood, adolescence, or even adult phases of life. The same can be applied to homosexual women: their homosexual feelings reflect their revenge against the violent behavior, the cruelty, and the immorality of many men that were important for them. Many people have attacked me because I claim that homosexuality is a mental illness.
