Butterflies have fascinated humans for thousands of years. These magnificent “flying flowers” have represented themes such as the Resurrection, change, fertility, and flight of the soul after death. Attracting butterflies takes a little planning and design of your garden. Children in particular will marvel to witness first hand the life cycle of the butterfly. You will need two general types of plantings for your garden – host plants and nectar plants. Host plants consist of those that attract the adult female butterfly to lay her eggs on.
