The book of Leviticus outlines the duties, responsibilities, requirements, and obligations for the entire family of any Levite (high priests and lay priests) who served in the Temple. And it states that they will be judges and teachers, but that these judgements must be made within boundaries of fair applications of the laws of the Torah. But by contrast the Rabbis regard their Oral Laws (as they have espoused and recorded in the Mishnah and Talmuds as being superiorly binding on all Jews, and that this authority to make it so was mandated by God.

Prayer of the High Priests
I've taken the liberty of translating the prayer of the High Priests from my ancestor's book of prayers that he had published in 1867 in Vienna. The Hebrew he used was based on ancient sources and it did provide me with some difficulty but the gist of the translation is fairly accurate and the prayer is definitely different from any of the ones available from most Jewish prayer books. I discuss these differences and their pertinance to his Karaite beliefs. I invite you to read his words at http://hubpages.com/t/179c25

The Kabbalah Tarot; hidden meanings and their connection to the Kabbalah
The year is significant in that the persecution of Jews was increasing and the practice of Judaism was often punishable by death.
Playing cards were the rage, first banned in 1367, their use continued, and so seeing a group of people playing cards in 1450 would not provoke the idea the players were doing more than amusing themselves.

Sabbath Prohibitions
As Karaites we all know that our strength is that ability to interpret the Tanach to our own satisfaction. As long as our interpretations satisfy the requirements in the Torah and meet our own personal perceptions then we are correct in our beliefs. So we have created a faith which embraces personal differences and that in itself is lauditory.

The Good Samaritan
History has often portrayed the Samaritans as the half-breeds of Northern Israel, contaminated by Molech and Baal worship and bent on the destruction of their more pure brothers to the south living in Judea. Whereas God had abandoned the Samaritan, scripture claims he still loved the Jews of the Southern Kingdom. But these accounts of kings and prophets were kept by the Judeans themselves. What if it wasn't completely accurate? What if the evil-Samaritans weren't evil at all, merely the hapless victims of being history's losers.
