If there’s one ‘must do’ event in Latin America it’s Carnival in Rio – one of the world’s great shows, perhaps the greatest. This uninhibited four day festival begins 40 days before Easter and leads up to the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday, finishing on Fat Tuesday – a glorious opportunity to eat, drink and be merry for those about to take Lenten abstinence seriously.
