The last few months, I’ve reviewed some of legendary horror director Lucio Fulci’s last movies; movies I had heard of but never seen. But now I’ve watched a movie I’ve never even heard of. I had no idea that Fulci supervised (or something like that) a handful of direct-to-video movies (I believe there are five of them) in 1989; the “Lucio Fulci presenta” movies. Fulci “presents” the movies, his name is mentioned in the titles, but I’ve no idea what he had to do with them more than lending them his name.

Costner plays such a great, self depreciating been-there-done-that character that he makes the movie worth watching. Draft Day isn’t a sports driven movie. It’s a character driven movie, and the characters make the movie. Costner shines like he hasn’t in a long time, and has more than made up for his last train wreck of a movie “3 Days to Kill.”

Retro Horror Review: Voices from Beyond (1994) 3 years 30 weeks ago

“Voices from Beyond” (“Voci dal profondo”) was made in 1994, two years before the death of its eccentric director. The opening titles say it’s produced by something called Executive Cine TV, so maybe this is a TV-movie, but I’m not sure -- like “The House of Clocks”, it’s quite graphic for being made for television.

This very talkative little movie is a mess and I would lie if I said I kept up with the confusing plot. OK, maybe it’s not that confusing, but “Voices from Beyond” is a pretty boring, uninvolved movie and I caught myself thinking of other things while watching it.

Ever think of a movie and wonder why the direction of the film didn’t more logically go in one direction or another? Sometimes there is such lack of logic in the plot of a film that people refer to it as a plot fail. I think there might be a serious plot fall in the movie “Unstoppable” Unstoppable stars a Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. Two pretty good actors. There is a moment in the grand finale of the film where I was left wondering if there wasn’t a more logical way to end this movie.

Michael Keusch, the director of “Flight of Fury”, is back. Okay, maybe I shouldn’t write “back” - “Attack Force” was made earlier. But it doesn’t matter. And maybe I should correct myself and my review of that other movie, maybe this sucker is the worst of the bunch, I’m not sure.

You see, I’ve seen “Attack Force” twice. Maybe a year went by between the viewings, but still--I’ve watched it twice. I didn’t understand what it was about the first time I saw it. What the hell was it I was watching? After re-watching it, things didn’t get any clearer.
