When the market is considered globally, analysis reveals that greater than 50% of cord blood industry growth has been driven by new market entrants. However, when the UK is considered independently, a much higher percentage of cord blood industry market expansion comes from growth at existing operations, likely because of the developed state of the cord blood banking industry within the UK, where seven of the region's eight private banks have been in existence for a period of longer than five years.
