Sometimes you just want a coffee. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive, no atmosphere, no ambiance, just a plain old cup of coffee. That is what places like McDonalds and Wawa are for (if you live in PA, NJ area you'll know what a "Wawa" is :-) You run into the store, grab a paper cup and either sit at some hard, tacky table and drink it or take it on the go.
Other times, you might really want a little atmosphere. You want the coffee served in a nice big glass cup and saucer. You want some good atmosphere and maybe a little live music.

Think back to the last time you bought a really good bag of coffee. It may have cost a little more, but it was probably a great bean from an exotic country and it was freshly roasted in the past week or two. Close your eyes and remember the smell when you first opened the bag. That heavenly aroma is the sign that you have a truly great coffee that will make a superior cup in your home.

If you have a coffee maker that has a direct water feed, rather than just a pour-over pot, you might occasionally run into the problem of coffee not filling up far enough in the pot, or coffee spilling over all over the place.
On pour-over pots this is not a problem if you are using the correct sized pot. If your unit is a direct water feed (ie the water is drawn from a line connected to the plumbing) you might see this problem for any number of reasons. Regardless, you'll want to correct your water level problem.
