At the time of writing, Hamid Karzai is the president of Afghanistan. Succeeding the previous Taliban regime, Karzai took office somewhere towards the end of the year 2001.
He was born in the southern part of Afghanistan, in the year 1957.

The son of a former deputy speaker of parliament, Hamid Karzai's family had been strong supporters of the former king of Afghanistan, Zahir Shah.

In one of the epic fight, the Taliban employed a Russian-made ZPU — a 14.5 mm anti-aircraft gun. Towed behind a vehicle, it could fire 600 armour-piercing shells a minute, to a distance of 8km. A Warthog commanded by Lieutenant Andrew Maggs was fired on. Disconcertingly, he had to drive more than a mile towards the weapon before he was even close enough to return fire with his own, smaller-calibre machine gun armament. The Warthogs, which carried only machine guns, found themselves outgunned and out-ranged.

The British Warthog is a 22-ton tracked armoured vehicle with superb off-road ability. It is well armoured. 11 of them were damaged by IED but prevented their occupants from being killed. It's speed in rough terrain allows it to outflank the fleet-footed Taliban. The Taliban have learnt not to engage the Warthog in fire fight.

The vehicle’s success has led to a rethink on British tactics as they are not only able to deliver troops, supplies but they can also bring down heavy firepower from unexpected directions.
