Somebody recorded my family's Passover Seder this year. I wasn't able to attend because I was by my dad's side in the hospital.

However, my family recently listened to the recording and transcribed just what my 8 year old son Griffy said...and I was able to be a part of his thinking and the event and truly appreciate my son's gifts.

Listening to the recording brought tears of joy, happiness and pride to my eyes.

A father is the most important role for a boy. It's different with boys and girls. I realize both parents love them the same. A father's parenting effects how the son will be as he gets older. It's important to play a vital role in your sons life. You need to provide positive parenting in their life. Sons need their mothers, there's no denying that. However, they need their fathers the most though. It's a man thing.

I look at this photo taken in January 2003; my son was just 3 days old. Somehow time has moved steadily and he is now 8.5 years old, entering third grade as a thoughtful and philosophical young guy (and a joy to be around, I must add).

I remember this moment captured in a photo. I was tired, unprepared for first time patenting and scared by my own lack of familiarity. I was beginning my journey as a mother seeking... And it clearly continues.
