Calling “Night of Fear” a movie is a bit misleading. At least calling it a feature film. Bourke’s film runs only about 54 minutes or so. This is because this was supposed to be the pilot episode of a new horror TV series called “Fright”. This film has typical “TV opening titles” which clips from the film we’re about to see, and title cards scream “Fright”, “Night of Fear” and “Created by Terry Bourke”.

But this pilot never aired. ABC -- Australian Broadcasting Corporation” -- deemed it too violence and scary. So, instead it was released to theaters as a feature film, albeit a very short one. It didn’t open until 1973, since the Australian censors banned the film!

So... What is “Night of Fear”, then? How come people were so shocked back in 1972?

God knows what this is, what Terry Bourke was thinking. Now, don’t get me wrong here. This isn’t a bad movie. This is a very interesting movie. This is a very fascinating movie. But most of all, this is a very, very weird movie!
