An epic musical masterpiece that has to be seen to be believed. Based on a novel, "Les Misérables" tells the story of a man that breaks his parole to start a new life, as mayor of a small town in 19th century France. Along the way, he almost blows his cover to try and aid a factory worker named Fantine, who struggles each day to earn a living to provide for her daughter, Cosette. Meanwhile, Jean Valjean is constantly pursued by a vicious policeman Javert, who will stop at nothing until he sees Jean behind bars again. Although the story does tend to drag at times, it's still arguably one of the greatest musicals ever told.
