A duplicate set of the Stirling Heads, dubbed Scotland’s other crown jewels, has been painstakingly recreated and installed on the ceiling of the King's Inner Hall at Stirling Castle.

The Stirling Heads are metre-wide hand-carved oak roundels, showing imps and classical heroes, kings, queens and courtiers. They were commissioned by James V to decorate the ceiling of the King's Inner Hall in the Royal Palace at Stirling. Unfortunately, James died before the completion of the work.
The apartments were lived in by his widow, Mary of Guise, and their daughter, Mary Queen of Scots.

In the second world war, the sons of the MacRobert family joined the RAF. When they were shot down or declared missing in the same year, Lady MacRobert issued what she called "a mother's immediate reply": a cheque for £25,000 to buy a Short Stirling bomber. It started a tradition for the RAF, and "MacRobert's Reply" was to carry the family name and her opinion to the Germans repeatedly over the following years.

Even today a "MacRobert's reply" still flies with the RAF.
