If you are looking for a small town with a main drag on it, Lansdale has it. You wouldn't think of Lansdale as a Main Street America kind of town but it is getting there. If you want your hair cut near Lansdale they have it. If you want to shop thrift stores near or in Lansdale, they have it. Sandwiches, pizza, restaurants, comic books, they've got it.
Downtown Lansdale has a lot of stores to offer and things to do. I'll admit though that this town might not be for everyone. Some will like it and some will wish they went to Skippack or Haddonfield or Manayunk instead. I think a lot of it depends on how close to Lansdale you are when you go.

There is local professional baseball near Lansdale, near Plymouth Meeting, Allentown, Bethlehem etc. Pretty much if you live along the Northeast Extension (PA turnpike) and you want to go see some really good triple A minor league baseball, you won't have a far drive at all.
