Cardboard Asset: 1970-71 Darryl Sittler O-Pee-Chee Rookie Card
Darryl Sittler was first enshrined on a piece of cardboard in the 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee hockey set. Sittler’s Rookie card with the Toronto Maple Leafs was a bit of a rarity at the time, being produced during his rookie season in the NHL and not the following season which was normally the case. The card was number 218 in the set and was not included in the Topps set in the United States.

Cardboard Assets: 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Guy Lafleur Rookie Card
Guy Lafleur first appeared on a hockey card in the 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee series. Number 148, however, was not in the Topps series that season. Typically, the Topps and O-Pee-Chee sets were mirrors of each other but there were exceptions, Lafleur’s rookie card being one of them. The card is considered an uncorrected error card (UER). His last name on both the front and back of the card is misspelled La Fleur. O-Pee-Chee made this similar mistake with other French-Canadian players in that series.

Washington remains in their original location and have been one of the NHL’s top teams for the past half decade.
