After 3 and a half years, the wait is finally over. Come February, the Apple iPhone and iPad will finally come to a Verizon center near you. This is good news to Verizon Wireless, but what about AT&T? Will business go down for them? And what about the Android market which has the Droid, Droid 2 and Droid X? Motorola’s Droid smartphone continuous to prove itself as a worthy competitor of Apple iPhone handset ever since the released of the very first Droid in November 6, 2009. In fact, reports show that Droid sales are going extremely well that more than 25 percent of smartphone sales worldwide in the 3rd quarter of 2010 were commanded by Google Android operating system.

The Droid 2 launched in the US today on Verizon. There were rumors that the Droid 2 would launchthis week along with an R2-D2 special edition for Star Wars fans, it turns out both were true. The handset also sees the launch of the Droid series website, introducing visitors to the Droid 2 in a suitably Star Wars environment.
