Digital artist from all walks of life have painted dragons since time began, so as a digital atists myself interested in fantasy art, I thought I would give it a go and paint one of my own. Here's another step by step walkthough on how to draw manga and anime. It's intended for beginners but everyone is welcome to check it out. The artist describes his thought process while drawing the piece. It's basically a series of images and explanations that go from the start of the sketch all the way to the finished image.

Don't be so hasty in deleting your photos especially in this digital age. You may still be able to use your photos and turn them into works of art.
Have you tried using the many filters of Photoshop? These filters can be used to create abstract art or painting like effects in your photos. You can especially do some experiments or playing around with some of your photos that you are not happy with.
