Celiac disease (also called sprue) is an inherited, autoimmune disease in where the lining in the small intestine is damaged as the villi of the intestines are destroyed by eating gluten and other similar proteins. The damage interferes with absorption of nutrients from food.
In addition to the malabsorption of nutrients, there is an abnormal reaction to gluten. This disease is genetic and sometimes the disease is triggered for the first time following surgery, pregnancy, childbirth, viral infection or severe emotional stress.

Lupus is an acute and chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system is unbalanced, causing inflammation and tissue damage to virtually any organ in the body. Lupus can be unpredictable and potentially fatal, yet no satisfactory treatment or cure exists. Individuals with lupus have significantly higher rates of cardiovascular disease as well. I have a very rare and life threatening autoimmune disease called Progesterone Induced Anaphylaxis, Autoimmune Progesterone Anaphylaxis, and/or Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis. It is a condition in which a woman becomes allergic to her own female hormone called Progesterone.
