According to a research conducted by the GSM Association in the sub-Saharan Africa region, it has been noted that a woman living there is 23% less likely to own a mobile phone than a man. This figure rises to 24% in the Middle East and increases to 37% for a woman residing in South Asia. In total, it was found that 300 million fewer women owned a mobile in developing countries compared to men.
