Carew Castle, a Norman castle, is located in Pembrokeshire, Wales. From the outside, it has always struck me as creepy, but once I walked inside the ruin, I was awestruck. The former grandeur became obvious, and the stories these walls could tell would keep you entertained for hours.

One such story is about Princess Nest, a Welsh princess known as the Helen of Wales, who apparently caught the eye of King Henry I. Supposedly, she became his mistress and was married off to Gerald of Windsor. Another man became enamored of Nest, and kidnapped her (some say with her consent). As the sound of the invasion entered the bed chamber, Nest convinced Gerald to escape via the toilet shaft. What a dirty exit! But, he did escape and Nest was to bear her kidnapper children before being returned to Gerald."
