Costa Rica is fast becoming one of the world's top volunteer destinations. Its biodiversity and beautiful landscape are just some of the many reasons that Costa Rica is such a popular destination. Many people are unaware of the fact that a volunteer experience in Costa Rica doesn’t have to be very expensive. I recently returned from a three month stint where I volunteered in three different locations and paid less than 200$ in fees.

In 2007 the people of Costa Rica voted in an open poll contest for the seven natural wonders of Costa Rica. This Central American country is one of the top eco-tourist destinations in the world and is considered the number one greenest country in the world by many. Tourism contributes some $2.2 billion dollars a year to the Costa Rica economy and the country has 26 national parks protecting its rainforests, tropical forests, marine areas, mountains, volcanoes and wetlands.

Thanks to my recent vacation in Costa Rica, I have a completely different outlook on life, travel, vacations and Evolution.

Prior to my 10 days in Costa Rica, a sun-destination vacation would have consisted of the swimming in the pool, reading by the pool, drinking by the pool, eating at a buffet a few feet from the pool – and more swimming, drinking and reading by the pool. Frankly, that’s what I thought I was going to be doing for at least half of the time in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica has one of the best environmental records in the world, with nearly a quarter of the country designated as natural preserves so as to protect the vast biodiversity and micro-climates found there. Five percent of the world's biodiversity is contained in Costa Rica. The landscape encapsulates stunning mountain regions, luscious beaches and verdant plains.

Costa Rica is in between Panama and Nicaragua. It is an unusual peaceful Central America country. It has no army, fertile plain and a great tourist industry. On the coast Costa Rica is tropical and has swamps. The forests are teeming with wildlife and are inaccessible. A mountain range runs right down in the centre of the country with several volcanoes over 3500m high

Costa Rica is a little country in central America. When a lot of people hear about Costa Rica, they immediately think about the beautiful beaches, the sun and all what Mother Nature has got to offer. What about the Volcano Irazu? Yes what about it. Is it really worth visiting? Is it really dangerous to visit the Irazu volcano? How should you dress when visiting the volcano Irazu?
